YOUR GREATEST CONTRIBUTION TO THE WORLD MAY NOT BE SOMETHING YOU DO BUT SOMEONE YOU INSPIRE OR RAISE

šŸ˜‰Iā€™ve often said this to clients as you never know whose listening & seeing what changes youā€™ve made to your own life through more exercise and whole food choices.

šŸ˜‰Those listening or just viewing your new energy may not always comment but may consider joining you with changes too.

šŸ‘šŸ»Iā€™ve been watching the program MATCH FIT too so inspiring to see anyone making changes for HEALTH.

šŸ’›Change happens slowly but this is the best change as itā€™s often lifelong!

šŸ’›Itā€™s really wonderful when I see clients learning about improvements to health which I know they will continue on with.

šŸ˜ŠWe must be just as aware though of negative body images/comments mentioned in front of those most impressionable often children!

āž•Dr Libby Weaver says ā€œThe language you use around food is highly influential. Become really conscious of how you phrase things ā€“ for example saying something is good and something is bad, is not helpful for children and food isn't always that black and white.

āž•Introduce the concept of "food as a fuel" ā€“ and the fact that we want to supply our bodies with the best fuel possible. However, there are times for example at birthday parties where you eat 'sometimes' foods.

āž•Children are curious creatures, always wanting to know how things work and the ā€œwhyā€ behind them. Instead of suggesting that they eat something because it is ā€œhealthyā€ (a word that has no connotation to most three-year-olds), explain the benefit of eating a particular thing.

āž•Even from a young age, when children start to hear the ā€œso whatā€ ā€“ the reason the orange is a good choice for them ā€“ they are more likely to eat the food. Link the nutritious food choice to something that they care about, for example, being a good rugby player or dancer.

āž•Children who are included in food preparation and the cooking of meals are more likely to get excited about eating what youā€™ve created together. It also provides an excellent opportunity to explain to them the nutritional benefit of each ingredient. This may not work as an ā€œevery dayā€ strategy since it may not be a quick process but involve them as often as it works for you.

āž•Itā€™s fantastic that you want to share what youā€™re doing and keep sharing but change cannot be forced on those who donā€™t wish to change to healthier versions of themselves.Ā  But by being healthy in aspects of our own lives we can inspire rather than lecture.

šŸ’›We have done a huge amount of Kilometres over June and this was our last week of our challenge.Ā  We have achieved 2771.5 km of 1.7 times the length of NZ
