🐣I do enjoy an Easter Egg or two however, I do suggest along with Easter Hot Cross Buns that we don’t over consume this easter. Take into account the following:
😧a Cream Egg - takes 15 minutes hard out biking or 20 minutes of jogging to burn off
😧a large Chocolate Bunny - tramping for 2 hours, mountain biking for 1hour & 20 minutes
😧a marshmallow Egg - one hours walking
😩a hot cross bun - can have as much as 5 tsp of sugar in one bun or 50 minutes of jogging for two buns!
👍🏻Interestingly, one actual egg from a real chicken is roughly the same amount of calories as a Crème Egg. However, the version from the chook is full of protein, healthy fats, and good amounts of vitamins A, B-12, D, E, and K, plus selenium, folate, and zinc. Real eggs are pretty much the perfect food, whereas chocolate eggs are far from it.
👍🏻However if you're wanting to know which of the Chocolate Eggs is the best to consume then try a dark chocolate Easter Egg (70% coco solids) which are lowest in sugar with most cocoa solids & contain some antioxidants Keep portion small and eat slowly and mindfully.
🍫Or maybe make this chocolate bark recipe for Easter https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/food-wine/recipes/120925922/recipe-dark-chocolate-bark-with-pistachios-ginger--coconut
🐣We’ve discussed SUGAR for the second week in the gym with Dr Libby Weaver suggesting that if you're looking for that sugar hit in the afternoon or evening you look to a couple of squares of dark (70% coco solids +) as this more bitter chocolate should stop you from eating the whole block. Along with also providing some antioxidants and that JOY you could be looking for as well as the sweetness.
🐣If we are an emotional eater then Dr Libby also suggests we consider other things in our life that bring us JOY for example - a hug with the dog, cat, children, grandchildren or photos of happy memories or perhaps the view outside our window. Exchange the sweet treat for this emotional change.
👩❤️👨If you are given some Easter Eggs this weekend perhaps use the adage that SHARING IS CARING & share them with friends, family or even work colleagues as a way to prevent further temptation.
🔝Enjoy the Easter Treats but like all in life enjoy in moderation. Gorging on these treats over the long weekend will only add on which might not be the direction you are going!
& some Easter humour...
