"You don't come to the gym to lift weight. You come to the gym to build muscle.” Was a quote from an article I shared on Facebook on Monday. I have muscles but I don't lift as heavy as some people - so what does the quote mean?
🏋🏼♀️How many of the reps you do in the gym are useful reps?
🏋🏻Is your technique correct?
🏋🏼♂️Are you taking your time or just going through the motions?
🏋🏻Do you consider the muscles you're using?
🏋🏼♂️Are you lifting heavy but not reaching the full range of motion?
🏋🏻I tell my clients I want them to get 100% benefit from an exercise & to take their time, to consider muscle groups & to stop if it is too hard, reset & start again.
🏋🏼♀️I’d rather we did this & gain 100% benefit than go through the motions & for all our effort achieve 40% benefit! Why waste your time which is precious doing an exercise incorrectly or too quickly?
🏋🏻I also used the quote “It’s going to be HARD but HARD is not IMPOSSIBLE”. Improving your fitness & health isn’t always easy but it’s not IMPOSSIBLE it just takes a willingness to try. As adults we are always encouraging our children or friends & yet we need to give some of that encouragement to ourselves.
🏋🏼♀️Instead of looking at the difficulty or the wall in front of you, look to what improving your fitness & health will give you. I hear everyday how this change has improved someones life!
👱🏻♀️Like I said on Wednesday in my WHO AM I? post on Facebook, I am a regular mum whose life was transformed by fitness into a career & gives me great JOY to see those I train transform too!
❄️Enjoy the weekend - winter is well & truly here & it is nice to be in the gym during the week when the weather is swirling around outside. But as I’ve said if needed just wrap up & enjoy the beauty of the outdoors - it’s inspiring!
🌅See the picture I took of the sunrise on Sunday in this post! AMAZING!
