🌨Winter is here, the mornings / nights are darker & colder! Maybe drizzle or frosty too!
⛈So don’t let the weather or your mind BULLY you out of getting some exercise. I can promise once you’ve ticked the box you’ll be happier for it.
So how to make it happen - have you:
🧤Planned ahead
Do you like to exercise outside? It’s time to layer up. Get prepared for cold weather and make sure your outdoor gear is ready for the drop in temperature or some light rain. Get dressed the moment you get home - do not allow any jobs you need to do get in first, as once you're dressed to go you will more likely go.
🌞Also look ahead with the weather forecast, plan a rest day or inside fitness for heavy rain, and then aim for the best days to get going!
👯♀️Seek out an exercise partner
When exercising alone, there is only one person you have to persuade to skip a session. But by exercising with a partner, there’s some social pressure: “I have to show up because they’re there, waiting for me,”
⛰Take the stairs
It can be tempting to take the lift. But the more you walk upstairs, the easier it gets and the better you’ll feel. When you’re at work or out and about, make sure you take the stairs. Walking up those steps will soon add up.
🍽Workout on your lunch break
It’s dark in the morning and dark in the evening. So when are we supposed to exercise? The answer is easy - lunchtime.
Walk around the block on your lunch break every day. Walking is great for your health and it’ll help clear your head. Get your work friends involved too.
🏊🏻♀️Swim in hot pools
We may not be able to swim in the sea or lakes during winter, but we’ve still got hot pools. Head to your local heated pool for a day of swimming. The best thing is that both kids and adults will enjoy it.
🛒Park far away from the supermarket entrance/mall entrance
Little things throughout the day all count towards exercise. Something as simple as parking far away from the supermarket entrance/mall so you have to walk further to do your shopping is easy and you’ll barely notice the difference.
🏃♀️Do a fun run
There are still events happening during the winter months so sign up for an event to keep you motivated to train.
