🙆🏼♀️I often hear the phrase; I only went 1km or 2km or for 20 minutes as if to say it’s not enough!
💜But it is fantastic! I’d rather you did something than nothing! Something always trumps NOTHING! EVERY-TIME!
🙆🏼♀️We hear about this magical 10,000 steps but it actually came from an advertising campaign! TRUE! A pedometer campaign which worked amazingly well!
💜Walking is great for your health, but you don't need to hit a certain target to see benefits! You just need to start! Letterbox & back maybe enough for some!
💜💜It maybe wonderful if you can walk about 7,000 steps a day but you are better just to do some than none!
🏌🏻🚴🏻♂️Or if you like biking or tennis or golf or swimming or any activity that gets you moving! It’s better to start than to sit on the couch!
🏃♂️Movement is the way we build strength, flexibility and can support our blood glucose, cardiovascular, lymphatic and energy systems.
💜Without these being in good shape, our quality of life – even our independence – can be negated. Movement is essential for great health and longevity, and many people certainly would benefit from moving more.
🏋🏼♂️Weight-bearing movement is vital for bone density, muscle strength, coordination and balance.
🧘🏻♀️Yoga has myriad benefits, including increased flexibility and muscle strength.
💜As Dr Libby Weaver says Combining resistance training to build and maintain muscle with restorative practices focused on calming breath-work and flexibility can be a fantastic way to support your physical health, while also nurturing your nervous system and mental health.
💜As I said last week adding some fitness into your life is also fantastic for your mental health! Take a moment right now & look at your diary & plan some form of fitness for your week. The next step is on that day get out the gear you need & place it somewhere prominent! Then tell family or friends what your doing as you’ll feel more accountable! THEN GO!
💜💜I can promise you will feel great for doing rather than sitting! And remember if you need advice I’m just a text away! For those at my gym we are continuing our challenge until lockdown is over - changing a habit for one month +! Keep going!
