🤔Children are fed by their families!
🤔If your not active as a family, predominately eat processed foods as a family & all carry extra weight then more than likely your children are on the same path as you!
🤔Or are you the skinny but unhealthy parent. I use the word skinny as sometimes that’s also unhealthy!
🤔Is this what you want for your children.
🤔As the main food purchaser and preparer in the family what foods do you choose for your family?
▶️As I mentioned last week, do you chose WHOLE REAL FOODS?
▶️Or do you regularly eat; sauced pastas, coated proteins, pies, burgers, pizza, fries or chips, biscuits, nuggets, takeaways, energy drinks or fizzy?
*️⃣Therefore a high Carbohydrate, high fat, high sugar diet!
▶️Children are growing and therefore can usually sustain a little more of the junk food, however this depends on how active they are & just how much junk food they are having.
▶️When my children were young, I was horrified to visit a friend for a weekend and the food consisted of *️⃣ chicken nuggets, chicken tenders, minimal meat sausages, cardboard pizza, chips - all brown food with little nutrient value! No greens in sight!
😌Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t have minded one night but 3 days of this junk food we all felt sick!
🤔Yes my children ate processed foods occasionally but they also knew what foods were nutritious choices so as they grew into adults they knew what to cook to make nutrient dense choices.
😊We had vegetables with every meal & yes sometimes bribes were involved to taste or try.
😊We also ate fish, healthy fats & whole protein choices to give nutrients to the body!
😊I believed in balance and still do!
🤔But we are the ones often providing the education about foods at home, and exercise at home. We give guidance.
🤔Setting an example and inspiring our children to live healthier lives is one of the most important lesson we can teach.
🤪My children hated that they’d bike to school with their mum running beside them, or one would do swimming lessons and the other child would bike beside me as I walked around the streets.
😊It was an effort and there were times I could have said I’m too busy but I believe in HEALTH and trying to inspire.
