HEALTHY MIND, HEALTHY BODY, HEALTHY LIFE.

Ultimately we need to be working towards this quote. However we also need to real & not expect perfection as that’s not a LIFE! Being realistic is what is REAL.

😀I talk to clients about loving the life in respect of nutrition & fitness. How to achieve this change & what changes they can make in steps towards more nutritious food choices & fitness outside their Personal Training sessions.

😀We discussed this week an article from Michelle Bridges page about is CARDIO BETTER THAN STRENGTH. Cardio based activities have long been praised for improving our heart health, fitness and sleep, lowering our blood pressure, reducing stress levels and helping us to lose weight. Whereas strength training promotes improvements in your strength, body mechanics and composition, increasing bone density and lean muscle mass which decreases as you age! Or you can build muscle memory when your younger which benefits you later in life!

😀Cardio and strength training burn calories in different ways. Cardio workouts tend to burn more calories in the workout session itself, as your heart rate becomes elevated for a more consistent period of time. You do tend to burn fewer calories during a strength session itself. BUT, the real benefits lie in that post-workout period. Building muscle requires energy, as it is being broken down, recreated and synthesised. The more muscle you have, the more energy it takes for these processes and the greater the calorie burn will be long AFTER you’ve finished training!

😀Press ups lead the way in our February Challenge & I’ve asked for 5-10 per day Monday thru Friday. Fantastic for upper body and core fitness & can be done anywhere - as one client said in the bathroom whilst waiting for the shower to heat up! & varying levels!

😀If you're taking a long weekend - enjoy the extra extra day! Look to get that heart rate up too with some outdoor activity! Hope you’ll enjoy a new recipe & I posted a great smoothie for the kids which I have shared before but is a good one for after school especially on a hot day!
