PEOPLE ASK ME WHY I DO?

“PEOPLE OFTEN ASK WHY I DO IT; AND I WONDER WHY THEY DON’T” I guess people wonder why I do when I’m out running on a cold or windy day, when I could be couch surfing and sometimes I do ask myself why too! But most days I really love being outside enjoying the world & the feeling of satisfaction that I can. We all can! It just takes that start, & then one day and I’ve been doing this for 15 years you’ll also be that person that people will wonder why you do & you’ll wonder why they don’t.

Zinc was a topic this week and when you take zinc it often contains vitamin C which we learnt about last week. They both have a few things in common. Both are great for immune response, for hair strength, and wound healing. Zinc was in our soils 100 years ago but not now so our fruits & vegetables lack it & zinc is responsible for the taste & texture of food, along with enzymes needed for great digestion. Oysters, pumpkin & sunflower seeds, eggs & red meat contain zinc. Poor glucose management, skin infections, easy scarring, white spots on fingernails, sugar cravings are signs of low zinc levels which can be tested with an easy drink at a health food shop. Low levels are often best managed with powdered or liquid forms of zinc taken at night. I suffered from eczema as a child, what is sometimes not considered is we give dairy cows zinc for eczema & I also found great success with zinc.

This week I gave my clients my food diary as I wanted to show that I am also a work in progress & things in my life change & sometimes I review & pull myself back when changes need to be made. With running out of the equation over the last few weeks & less gym work my nutrition has also moved off centre so this week I explained to my clients how I’ve set 3 goals for April. Some chocolate has crept back in & its easier for me to say no chocolate in April rather than some. I don’t really want those cravings for sugar back & this is a way for me to ensure they don’t. I’ve also noticed my portions have increased & I’ve started to measure some protein, other changes have been to less nuts & less fruit as 3-4 pieces although containing good vitamins & minerals is more than I need. So check yourself is there a change you need to make?

I’ve attached a few workouts to try - with the crazy weather this week you may need an indoor option (replace crunches with frog jumps). Also look at the recipe I posted on pumpkin soup. Soup is a great go to in the fridge/freezer and if you're not into making your own look at the great Naked or Pitango options in the supermarket. They last & you can add some protein to make this a great meal. Just go easy on the bread dippers.
