This is not the answer!!!

This may make me unpopular with some. But with the knowledge I have from 8 years as a personal trainer and studying nutrition I agree wholeheartedly with this article. It frustrates me that those that believe this is the best way to lose weight don't see the truth that this article shares. This is NOT THE ANSWER! it's not a forever way to live life!

Isagenix: The elephant in the room. It feels as though anyone with half a brain or knowledge of health and fitness is against it, but everyone is too scared to speak out as one of their friends sells it or the backlash is always significant. Recently, well actually over the last couple of years I have had people message me as well as some of my fellow nutrition buddies needing help after tryingIsagenix and the problems that occurred during as well as ongoing since coming off it. I thought I would review the products and ingredients as well as the company to provide some insight into Isagenix. Here are some bullet points: -Pseudoscience without any actual scientific studies which prove Isagenix systems have any benefit over proven methods. The one scientific study which has tried to compare Isagenix diet with food diet was flawed and all the figures do not add up. (Reference my article http://www.holisticperformancenutrition.com/articles--media/isagenix-study-review) and did not show any benefit over eating food compared to Isagenix. -Weight loss is due to starvation/calorie deficit and not due to the ingredients in the shakes. -The products claim to be natural yet are created with synthetic bi-products of natural ingredients. The products are what a nutritionist would call overpriced skim milk. There are products for a third of the price on the market that are significantly better for you, without the main ingredient being sugar and skim milk powder, which is $3 a kg from the supermarket by the way and have significant inflammatory effects in the body. -The increased energy/good feeling resulting in starting Isagenix is due to the elimination of processed and refined foods from the diet, not from the Isagenix ingredients. Take an already healthy person, someone who eats healthy, real whole foods, put them on Isagenix and they tend to feel ill, sick, fatigued due to the starvation. Isagenix can be effective for people who eat a crap standard diet full of processed foods, but after a while their bodies will slowly deteriorate due to lack of calories and their metabolism will decrease, which tends to mean as soon as they touch normal whole foods again they balloon up. (This is referring to the shakes plus meal system). -The initial weight loss is usually due to water weight/muscle glycogen that can be up to 5kg within a few days. From there the majority of weight loss is muscle rather than fat loss which hinders the metabolism significantly. Once people may stop Isagenix, they have slowed their metabolism so much, that any touch of normal food causes significant weight gain. Don’t even get me started on the potential hormonal problems of this. -No doctors, nutritionists, dieticians, naturopaths or anyone with any heals degree condone or support Isagenix as it is not healthy, unless of course they are paid significantly by Isagenix themselves. Isagenix is supported by people who don't have any health education, which can be dangerous. -Only the top 1% can make a living selling Isagenix and that is still only 1% earning more than $30,000 yearly. 99% earn less than that. Those were figures released by Isagenix themselves. So before you believe the whole you can retired before you’re 30 scam, think again. -All studies on Isagenix are self-funded, that's like someone walking around saying how awesome they are with nothing to back it up other than their own ego. Like how Coca Cola funds the studies that say sugar is not bad for you. -Detoxing is a scam. The body has a liver and kidneys for a reason and no person needs to detox. Isagenix claims it eliminates toxins from the body yet they cannot name one single toxin it eliminates. -The product only works if you are paying someone. Education is important for health, but making people use the same product forever for so called health is not educating them but just taking more money. Sure, there are some unhealthy people and Isagenix can be a good start for them, but like I mentioned above, educating people on eating nutritious, natural, whole, and unprocessed foods will in turn lead to a healthier future for them and perhaps even a social life. *This article is about the Isagenix Diet of consuming two shakes daily and a 400-600 calorie meal.
