The content consists of gaining an introduction to the Pilates Reformer Machine and understanding it's components. The Torque fitness NZ manual is the reference you need to aid your instructing, however we also utilise technology to add to this resource.
At the completion of the 4 day course you will have had the opportunity to not only learn but bed in the knowledge through your own studio practise sessions.
You will study basic anatomy so that you have a better understanding of technique, breathing plus progressions. We will discuss planning and differing clients needs and how to operate within parameters to ensure we give our clients the best.
As we mentioned previously this course is accredited by REP's (Register of Exercise Professionals NZ) qualifies for REPS CPD points. This enables you to travel abroad with an internationally recognised Reformer education.
Pilates Aotearoa is a new organisation specifically for Pilates and they are currently working through their accreditation policy. We will endeavour to align with this organisation in the near future.
You do not need any experience on the Reformer Machine to qualify for this course.

Technique forms the key component of the course from which stems the ability to perform each exercise and enable regression or progressions of exercises.

The 4 days in studio course comprises of:

4 practical & theory training days which include extra time in the studio to practise your knowledge

Multiple choice theory exam (anatomy + reformer)

1 practical teaching assessment

On completion you will receive your certificate with CPD points from REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals NZ)
course ACHIEVEMENT:
On completion of this course graduates have the ability:

to utilise the potential of the Reformer Pilates machine thereby providing their clients the experience they are expecting from a class

to understand the history of Pilates and the key principles

to understand the basics of anatomy

to utilise all parts of the Reformer and additional equipment

to safely manage a studio and clients in a class or 1:1

have a basic understanding of instructing pregnant clients

to reference the hard copy Torque Fitness manual which covers the skills required to instruct a class utilising spring tensions plus additional equipment associated with the Reformer

Learn the use of cueing a class and responding to needs of individual clients

to have some knowledge management of a studio
